Singing in the rain
Oh hey hey! What a week haha! Let's get started, because there is a lot to cover:)
First, we rode the bus this week! I'm going to be honest, I loved riding the bus! I felt like I was in a movie or something and I was living in New York city. I think I could get used to it, but then it would get boring lol. Anywho, we missed our first bus, of course, but we finally got it an hour later! We ended up being 2 hours late to our appointment, but we met so many cool people:) Carlos, the bus driver, told us to find him again that same day and get back on his bus! We tried, but we just weren't in the right place at the right time to see him again. We did meet Fedi and her mom who only spoke Creole! They said they wanted to come check out our church and we were like, umm yes please do! Okay now fast forward to when we got home and then biked the rest of our appointments! As we were biking, guess who pulled up next to us? I'm waiting... it was CARLOS! Haha miracles!
Alright, now I know that specific prayers bring specific blessings. You aren't a true missionary until you have biked in the pouring rain right? Well in my book that's true:) we were biking to our lesson on speed mode and we prayed that it would start pouring on us. Heavenly Father is so good. Next thing we knew, it was dumping rain on us, and we were soaked HA I loved it! I was living the dream!
Now to sum some things up for the week I'm just going to write some bullet points:
- we drove a golf cart around a trailer park and had picnic while watching sailboats pass. Living the dream, I'm telling ya!
- ADAM FINALLY CAME TO A BAPTISM!... It was all in Creole though, but it still counts!
- our recent convert, Darius starting singing during dinner and when I say it was dead silent, you could hear a pin drop. HAHA I was holding back tears for sure! It was so funny, Sister Merrill had to leave the room:)
As a mission, we have been focusing on finding families to teach. As we went out and had that perspective in mind, we saw miracles, and they were flowing let me tell ya. We were driving around visiting people that were being taught in the past and we accidentally knocked on the wrong door... "accidentally" it ended up being a huge family and they were so fun and energetic! There were kids popping out from every corner! We hope to start teaching them this week:)
Okay, I'm almost done, but bear with me friends! In church we did something I've never done before! All of the speakers canceled last minute so the bishop decided to do a hymn testimony meeting. People who wanted to come up, shared their favorite hymn and why it was special to them, and then we sang the song. The spirit was so strong! Anyone who knows me, knows that music has always been a huge part of my life. One of my favorite church hymns is from the Children's song book and it's called "When I am baptized." Here are some of the words to that song:
I like to look for rainbows whenever there is rain. And ponder on the beauty of an earth made clean again. I want my life to be as clean as earth right after rain. I want to be the best I can and live with God again.
For some reason, every time I sing this song, I can't help but cry. I always want to feel the way Christ does. I want to feel clean always and the way to do that, is through baptism. I know Christ loves me, and wants to be there for me. I know He is there for me. I love how simply beautiful and beautifully simple this gospel is:)
Love,
Sister Jensen
