"Adventure is out there!"

Oh hello again! Another week another crazy experience! So turns out, being a missionary in the YSA branches are a lot different than being a missionary in family wards haha. Let me explain myself:)

First, Sister Peterson and I went on our first adventure to the college campus, and I'm just going to say it felt like the first day of school. It was so weird!! Our generation is just built different these days haha when we would go up and talk to people, they were either super nice and talkative, or so bored. And you could definitely tell. It was very much black and white. But! We met 4 new amazing people that we have slowly been able to reach out to and get to know better, and it was just a little tender miracle for our very first day out in the wilderness! Now let me tell you about our first phone call... it starts out, "yo! What's up?" When I say my jaw dropped, I'm pretty sure it touched the floor lol I'm going to have to get used to this for sure. I just didn't know how to respond because you can't just say, "hello, it's the sister missionaries from the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! How are you doing today?" They will quite literally hang up the phone. I would know because that happened haha. So we have to ease into the conversation very slowly haha

Anyways, the biggest miracle of the week! Harry! We decided to go back downtown with the other sisters and do the whiteboard thing again on one of the corners! This time we wrote what makes you smile? This man Harry starts walking up to us and we asked if he wanted to sign our board and he was about to walk away, but stopped and turned back around! He signed it and was about to walk away again and so naturally we asked him if we wanted a little picture of Jesus! He said it was funny because someone had just given him a little card for church a couple minutes ago, but he said he liked our picture better lol! He talked to us for a little while and told us that it was no coincidence that he ran into us because he has been looking for a group of good people his age to be friends with! Okay! Yes! We will be your friends! And we just happen to have some other friends your age!! MIRACLES I'm telling ya!

Oh the things that we go through and hear as missionaries! I live for it! Quote of the week: "go onto Amazon and look up bubble slides." This was said by a little kid we were passing on the street:) Haven't heard that one before!

This week during my studies I was focusing on the characteristics of Christ and specifically Charity. I know that charity goes a long ways and without it, we are nothing! If we want anything in this life, we have to follow God's commandments by loving Him and our neighbor! Here is the biggest thing I learned from my study:)
- the secret to receiving personal revelation is by doing the small things like serving our enemies. As we show the pure love of Christ towards all of God's children, we are able to access the full enabling power of Christ's Atonement and receive answers to our questions. As we do this, we draw closer to the spirit, which allows us to recognize the answers are coming from God and not from the devil.
- we can help people have charity by helping them recognize their christlike attribute and helping grow their weaknesses!

I know that charity and love solves all problems! It's what Christ would do! And if He can do it, so can I!

Talk to ya'll later! More adventures to come next week;)

Love,
Sister Jensen
