Breaking news: it hit 67 degrees in Florida!!
Hey yall! Welcome to my life... so crazy news, 7 MONTHS AS A MISSIONARY! I can't even believe how fast the time has gone by! It reminds me to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity! But this week was one for the books; I know, I say that literally every week, but time goes by when you are having fun right? Right.
To start all things off, Hurricane Ian... it was hitting our mission in Naples and Fort Meyers, which is on the gulf and I am on the East coast in Boynton Beach! We were just getting all rain, lightning, and wind oh my! Haha but because of that, we were on house arrest and had to stay inside all day Wednesday! I was going to die! I'm not even being dramatic; I could have died lol. But it's all good! We know God provides for His missionaries and we found 3 new people to teach that day over the phone! Woot woot!
We were able to go out on Tuesday and we had a grand idea to go to the grocery store with umbrellas and help people get to their cars! It's a great way to meet people:) it became real awkward when we left the house and it completely stopped raining... of course. So as one does, we said a prayer for it to rain so we can meet someone that we need to. We started to walk to the grocery store and it wasn't raining at all! Like not even a drop! And then... right when we turned the corner into the parking lot it started DUMPING rain! I was soooo excited! Yay! We helped a few people and then we met Gerard. (I know the names here are something else lol) but he was so cool, and accepted a copy of the Book of Mormon! Yay! Right after we got done talking to him the rain stopped. Crazy right?!?! Everything happens for a reason and God is so good!
Alright, let me explain the title of my email lol because of the Hurricane and because it's fall time now, it was 67 degrees outside! If felt absolutely amazing! On a regular morning walk to the gym it would be 80 degrees and sticky and gross, but this morning was just hitting different! Aaahhh I could actually go outside to "warm off!" (That's when you go to take the warm off and put the cold on... if you know, you know)
One thing I've come to learn about missions is that every day is a new day and so many things come unexpectedly haha we can go from eating Indian food with our hands at a members home and laughing, to getting yelled at through a ring door cam or over the phone! It's my favorite thing ever haha all jokes aside:)
And then the best part about this week was... drumroll... GENERAL CONFERENCE! I can't even explain how much I LOVE general conference:) how is it that all your doubts and questions are answered in the span of 8 hours of watching our prophet and his apostles speak?? It's only possible because it's God speaking to us through the people He called!! Here are some of my favorite insights:
- we CAN overcome the world because Jesus overcame the world. We know this because every time we do something good that goes in accordance with God, we are overcoming the world!
- you can have all the faith in the world, but if you do not have charity, it does not profit you at all!
- we need to learn to trust the answers that God has already given us:) don't continue asking the same question, hoping to get a different answer. That will not happen!
I hope you all can go back and watch or listen to the talks that were given this weekend! They will bring you peace and knowledge of God and Jesus Christ:) I know my Savior lives. I know that Joseph Smith was the prophet of the restoration and was called to restore Christ's perfect church on the Earth today. I know that we have a living prophet on the Earth today who loves us. I love him and I love this gospel with every ounce of my being:) I also know that everyone has the opportunity to feel the same and everyone in this world belongs in Christ's church!
Love,
Sister Jensen
