Great Gatsby dreams

This week was a blur! Quite literally! I was living the Great Gatsby dreams. And you'll see what I mean as you read the rest of this email:)

To start things off, being in a YSA branch is so different! They are always listening to music and it kills me because I want to break out into a dance so bad, but I can't! For example, our branch had a big Halloween dance this Saturday, and we went for a little so we could meet our friends there and be with the ward members. They were playing serious jams, soooo my comp almost lost it and she ran into the hallway and we did the worm hahaha oh the things we do as missionaries just amaze me lol. Oh and we went to the FAU campus this week, and it just so happens they had a live rock band playing heavy medal music! It was amazing!

The saddest part of the week is that our friend Ethan broke up with us!! *cries* we went to chik-fil-A to meet up, and he was there waiting for us! Yay right?! It was until he said he had to go to the bathroom and took everything with him... we waited for 35 minutes and when we tried to call, he blocked us! Well jokes on him because we go to chik-fil-A all the time! HA he thought he was getting rid of us lol. I have faith!!

Not to brag, but we really do have the best YSA branch ever! One of our members took us out to dinner and told us how he was baptized and his story is just absolutely amazing! I'll sum it up for you:) he was a Muslim his whole life until some missionaries showed up at his door in the middle of a snowstorm and started to teach him! He gained a testimony of the gospel and when he had his baptismal interview with the mission president, they told him he can't be baptized because it would put him in danger and the missionaries in danger. (If you don't know, Muslims will kill anyone who takes them away from their religion...) so naturally abdel went across the street and made the methodist church baptize him. After he was baptized, still soaking wet, walked back over to the mission president's office and told him he wants to be baptized, and now he is! That took so much faith! His story is absolutely amazing!

One of our other miracles from the week was Billy! We have meet trying to meet with our friend Billy for so long now, and one day we decided we were going to give him one last shot! So we went to his house and he wasn't home so we left a sticky note! That next morning we get a call from a random number and it's him!!! We met up at McDonald's and he told us that it was because of the missionaries light from the first time he saw them that led him to us! He said he doesn't believe in coincidences and wants to continue meeting with us! Yayyyyy!

Let me just say this, being a missionary is a rollercoaster! One minute you are stranded on the street because all your friends "broke up with you" and the next you are having lunch in a mansion on the ocean! I would never trade being a missionary for anything!

I gave my second talk on the mission this week at church and I was asked go talk about sharing the gospel. Very fitting haha as I studied for the talk I came across these 2 really amazing quotes from Elder Silva!

"The privilege of representing the Savior Jesus Christ and His church cannot be ignored."

"The challenges of life can knock us down, but know that when we exercise faith in Jesus Christ, [our] afflictions shall be but a small moment. Trust in Heavenly Father and do not give up, for if we do give up, we will never know how the end of our journey would have been in the kingdom of God."

I know that sometimes sharing the gospel can be scary, but it shouldn't be because it's something we love so much! As a follower of Christ we are entitled to access God's power. I've seen so many instances as a missionary that I have been given confidence to walk up wot random people and share my testimony of Christ! It's so hard to do sometimes, especially to people my own age, but as I gave my fear over to God, He gave me the strength I needed to take a step:) I know He can do the same for you! "You are a child of God, a child of the Covenant, and a disciple of Jesus Christ."

More adventures to come next week:) love you lots!
